Armagh Killed when terrorist gunmen fired into his house while he was off duty. 28 March 1990, aged 58 James Sefton Reserve Constable, RUC (Retd.), Belfast A retired officer, killed with his wife by a terrorist under-car booby trap bomb. 6 June 1990, aged 65 Harold John Beckett Constable, aged 47 Gary Carl Meyer Constable, aged 34 Royal Ulster Constabulary, Belfast Shot dead on foot patrol when terrorist gunmen opened fire at point blank range. 30 June 1990 William James Brown Hanson Constable, aged 37 David Sterritt Reserve Constable, aged 34 Joshua Cyril Willis Reserve Constable, aged 35 Royal Ulster Constabulary, Co. Armagh Killed together while on mobile patrol by the detonation of a terrorist landmine. 24 July 1990, aged 35 Laurence Peter Brown Constable, Metropolitan Police Shot dead with a sawn-off shotgun as he approached a suspect lying in ambush. 28 August 1990, aged 27 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust Louis Martin Robinson Constable, RUC, Co. Down Fatally shot by terrorist gunmen after being abducted while he was off duty. 16 September 1990, aged 42 Peter Burnett Constable, Lancashire Constabulary Collapsed and died of heart failure while dispersing rioters attacking police. 7 October 1990, aged 42 Samuel Todd Constable, RUC, Belfast Fatally shot by terrorist gunmen while sat in a police dog van at a security barrier. 13 October 1990, aged 40 Steven Ernest Craig Reserve Constable, RUC (Retd.), Belfast Targeted and shot dead by terrorist gunmen six months after leaving the force. 16 October 1990, aged 24 William David Wesley Murphy Detective Inspector, aged 50 Thomas George Taylor Reserve Constable, aged 49 Royal Ulster Constabulary, Co. Armagh Fatally shot when ambushed by terrorist gunmen while off duty with friends. 10 November 1990 Wilfred Wethers Reserve Constable, RUC, Co. Armagh Fatally shot when ambushed by terrorist gunmen while returning home from duty. 20 December 1990, aged 46 Robert Chenery Gladwell Constable, Metropolitan Police Fatally injured when punched in the head during an arrest at a hotel disturbance. 16 December 1990, aged 37 1991 Thomas Edward C. Stephenson Reserve Constable, RUC (Retd.), Co. Fermanagh A retired officer, targeted and shot dead by terrorist gunmen outside his house. 21 January 1991, aged 63 Duncan Watts Clift Constable, Kent County Constabulary Fatally injured when, off duty, he was run down trying to stop a stolen car. 22 March 1991, aged 27 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust John Spence McGarry Detective Constable, RUC, Co. Antrim Killed by a terrorist under-car booby trap bomb while he was off duty. 6 April 1991, aged 46 Samuel Ernest McCrum Sergeant, RUC, Co. Antrim Fatally shot by terrorist gunmen while off duty in his wife's shop. 13 April 1991, aged 62 Stephen Gillespie Sergeant, RUC, Belfast Killed when his vehicle was hit by terrorist gunfire and a rocket-propelled grenade. 1 May 1991, aged 31 Robert Orr Reserve Constable, RUC (Retd.), Armagh A former police officer, killed by a terrorist under-car booby trap bomb. 13 May 1991, aged 56 Douglas Carrothers Reserve Constable, RUC, Co. Fermanagh Killed by a terrorist under-car booby trap bomb while returning home from work. 17 May 1991, aged 41 Edward Wilson Spence Constable, RUC, Belfast Fatally shot while on foot patrol when attacked by terrorist gunmen. 25 May 1991, aged 26 Eric Clarke Constable, RUC, Co. Londonderry Killed while on mobile patrol when his vehicle was hit by a terrorist mortar bomb. 17 September 1991, aged 37 Simon Clive Lilley Acting Sergeant, Northamptonshire Police Run down trying to stop a motorcyclist speeding and under the influence of drink. 5 November 1991, aged 30 Alan Derek King Sergeant, Metropolitan Police Killed when he was repeatedly stabbed in a violent struggle to arrest a suspect. 29 November 1991, aged 41 Posthumously awarded the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct. A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust James Morrison Detective Constable, Metropolitan Police Fatally stabbed when, although off duty, he attempted to arrest a handbag thief. 13 December 1991, aged 26 Posthumously awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal. A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust 1992 Colleen Linda McMurray Constable, RUC, Co. Down Fatally injured when her police patrol vehicle was hit by a terrorist mortar bomb. 27 March 1992, aged 34 Glenn Thomas Goodman Special Constable, North Yorkshire Police Shot dead by terrorist gunmen while checking a suspect car in the early hours. 7 June 1992, aged 37 Posthumously awarded the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct. A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust James Rea Douglas Constable, RUC, Belfast Fatally shot by terrorist gunmen while he was off duty in a public bar. 10 October 1992, aged 50 Christopher John Wiggins Constable, Essex Police Struck by a lorry and killed protecting the scene of a vehicle fire on the motorway. 13 October 1992, aged 29 Charles William Collett Constable, Cleveland Constabulary Drowned, attempting to rescue a boy from the sea, while on honeymoon in Corfu. 16 October 1992, aged 43 Robert James Irvine Constable, RUC (Retd.), Co. Antrim A former police officer, he was shot dead by terrorist gunmen at his sister's home. 20 October 1992, aged 43 Alan Corbett Reserve Constable, RUC, Co. Fermanagh Fatally shot by terrorist gunmen while operating a vehicle checkpoint. 15 November 1992, aged 25 1993 Michael John Ferguson Constable, RUC, City of Londonderry Fatally shot in the back of the head by a terrorist gunman while attending a call. 23 January 1993, aged 21 Reginald Williamson Reserve Constable, RUC, Co. Armagh Killed by a terrorist under-car booby trap bomb while driving his car off duty. 24 February 1993, aged 47 Jonathan Reid Constable, RUC, Co. Armagh Fatally shot by a terrorist gunman when ambushed while on foot patrol. 25 February 1993, aged 30 William Forth Sergeant, Northumbria Police Beaten and stabbed to death while dealing with a disturbance at night in Gateshead. 21 March 1993, aged 34 Posthumously awarded the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct. A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust John Patrick Murphy Constable, RUC (Retd.), Belfast A former police officer, he was shot dead by terrorist gunmen in a hotel bar. 17 June 1993, aged 38 Patrick Dunne Constable, Metropolitan Police Shot dead when confronted by three men while investigating the sound of gunfire. 20 October 1993, aged 44 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust Brian James William Woods Reserve Constable, RUC, Co. Down Fatally shot by a terrorist gunman while he was operating a vehicle checkpoint. 31 October 1993, aged 30 William John Andrew Beacom Constable, aged 46 Ernest Frederick Smith Reserve Constable, aged 49 RUC, Co. Fermanagh Both fatally shot when their mobile patrol was ambushed by terrorist gunmen. 12 December 1993 1994 Derek John Carnie Robertson Sergeant, Metropolitan Police Fatally stabbed attempting to arrest an armed suspect at a post office robbery. 9 February 1994, aged 39 Posthumously Awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal William Johnston Beacom Constable, RUC, Belfast Killed when the police vehicle he was in was struck by a rocket fired by terrorists. 17 February 1994, aged 30 John Edward Haggan Constable, RUC, Belfast Shot dead by terrorist gunmen while off duty in company with his wife. 10 March 1994, aged 33 Mark John Collins Reserve Constable, RUC, Londonderry City Fatally injured when hit by a car which failed to stop at a vehicle checkpoint. 17 March 1994, aged 33 Gregory William Pollock Constable, RUC, Londonderry City Killed on mobile patrol when his vehicle was struck by a terrorist mortar bomb. 20 April 1994, aged 23 Lewis George Fulton Constable, Strathclyde Police Fatally stabbed while attempting to arrest a deranged knifeman in the street. 17 June 1994, aged 28 Posthumously awarded the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct 1995 Arthur R. James Seymour Constable, RUC, Co. Tyrone Shot in the head by a terrorist sniper in 1973 and hospitalised until his death. 2 March 1995, aged 55 Phillip John Walters Constable, Metropolitan Police Shot and fatally wounded during a violent struggle to arrest an armed man. 18 April 1995, aged 28 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust George Pickburn Hammond Constable, Metropolitan Police Died from complications of stab wounds received during an arrest in 1985. 13 December 1995, aged 58 Awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 1987 1997 Darren Robert Bradshaw Constable, RUC, Belfast Shot dead by terrorist gunmen while he was off duty in a public bar. 9 May 1997, aged 24 Robert Gregory Taylor Constable, RUC, Co. Antrim Fatally beaten by a gang who recognised him as a police officer while off duty. 1 June 1997, aged 41 Roland John Graham Constable, aged 34 David Andrew Johnston Reserve Constable, aged 30 RUC, Co. Armagh Killed while on foot patrol when shot in the back of the head by terrorist gunmen. 16 June 1997 Nina Alexandra Mackay Constable, Metropolitan Police Fatally stabbed forcing entry to a flat in order to arrest a violent deranged man. 24 October 1997, aged 25 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust 1998 Samuel Cyril Stewart Reserve Constable, RUC (Retd.), Armagh A former police officer, shot dead by terrorist gunmen while out with his wife. 27 March 1998, aged 52 Francis Adrian O`Reilly Constable, Royal Ulster Constabulary Fatally injured by a terrorist blast bomb thrown at a police cordon in Co. Armagh. 5 September 1998, aged 30 1999 Jeffrey Barry James Tooley Constable, Sussex Police Fatally injured when he was run down by a speeding van he was trying to stop. 24 April 1999, aged 26 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust Stephen Jones Constable, Avon and Somerset Constabulary Killed when struck by a stolen vehicle he was attempting to stop with a spike strip. 17 May 1999, aged 34 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust Raja Bashrat Ahmed Constable, Greater Manchester Police Fatally injured when a stolen car he had stopped rammed his police motorcycle. 31 August 1999, aged 35 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust Kulwant Singh Sidhu Constable, Metropolitan Police Fatally injured in a fall through a glass skylight while pursuing suspects on a roof. 24 October 1999, aged 24 A memorial stone was erected at the scene by the Police Memorial Trust For the Fallen ~ Lest we Forget |
