Adrian Baker
Police Constable Thames Valley Police Died 10 April 2000, aged 34 |

Killed in a road accident while taking part in a refresher driving course near Cuddington, when the stationary police car, in which he was a rear seat passenger, was struck from behind by a 17 tonne lorry and thrown 35 yards into a ditch.
The driver of the lorry was A 23 year old man was convicted of driving without due care and attention, fined and disqualified from driving for two years.
Adi had 8 years service and was stationed at Aylesbury.
He was a divorced man and was survived by his parents, his brother and sisters.

Garry Wozencroft
Police Constable South Wales Police Died 30 June 2000, aged 35 |

Died from multiple injuries sustained, while pursuing a suspect vehicle, which had driven through a red traffic light late at night, when both the suspect vehicle and his police patrol car overturned on a bend at Bryn near Port Talbot.
Two 17 year old youths were arrested and reported for dangerous driving and other motoring offences.
Gary had been a Special Constable in Neath before joining the Metropolitan Police, where he served for 10 years, receiving a commendation for finding a terrorist bomb; he transferred to South Wales in October 1999 based at Maesteg Police Station. He was survived by his wife and 18 month old daughter.

William Norman Thompson
Reserve Constable Royal Ulster Constabulary Died 19 August 2000, aged 39 |

While investigating a vehicle in suspicious circumstances in the early hours, he attempted to stop a car in Upper Kennedy Way, West Belfast; the vehicle failed to stop and struck the officer who was fatally injured.
The car was found abandoned and a man was later charged with murder.
William was a full time member of the RUC Reserve and was stationed at Andersontown.
He was survived by his wife and two children.

While engaged in road traffic checks at Margate just after midnight, wearing reflective clothing he attempted to stop a speeding vehicle, the driver ignored his signal and the car struck the officer about 50mph causing massive internal injuries, which proved to be fatal.
A 24 year old man was charged with murder but convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 9 years imprisonment and 15 years disqualification.
Jon had 5 years service and was stationed with the Thanet Police Traffic Unit at Margate.
He was survived by his partner and her 13 year old son.
