Killed in a road traffic accident when his police patrol car was involved in a three-car collision, in which a married couple were also killed, while on mobile patrol on the A76 near Mennock, Dumfries-shire.

Fatally injured in a road traffic accident late on the night of 26 February, when his police patrol car collided with tree on the Kesh-Enniskillen Road at Buninubber, Killadeas, Co. Fermanagh, and died from his injuries the next day.

Killed in a road accident, while returning to police headquarters from Royal escort duties at Hinckley, when he lost control of his police motorcycle and crashed on the M69 motorway.

While the officer was off duty with friends in a bar in Dunbar Street, Belfast, late at night, nationalist gunmen entered the premises and one of them shot the constable in the back; as the officer staggered two more shots were fired and he died at the scene from his injuries.

Following a five mile pursuit of a stolen horse box across Co. Durham at night, two men abandoned the vehicle at Howden-le-Wear; the traffic patrol officer then began chasing the two suspects on foot but soon afterwards he collapsed and died.

While off duty with friends in a public house in Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, he was recognised as a police officer by local loyalists and jostled and abused. When he left the bar in the early hours he was attacked by a waiting mob and brutally beaten and kicked to death.

While on foot patrol together in Church Walk, Lurgan, two republican gunmen approached the officers from behind and opened fire at point blank range, both officers were shot in the head and killed.

Killed in a road accident, while reporting for early duty at Addington Police Station, when his motorcycle collided head-on with a lorry at Hurst Green.

Fatally injured in a road accident on the A194m Washington by-pass, while returning home after finishing duty in the early hours, when his vehicle collided with a stray horse.

As a member of a Territorial Support Group she forced entry to a dwelling flat at Stratford, in order to arrest a violent and deranged wanted man, whereupon she was stabbed in the chest and fatally wounded.
Posthumously awarded a Commissioner's High Commendation for Bravery, her name inscribed on the Roll of Honour at New Scotland Yard, and a memorial stone was erected by the Police Memorial Trust at the scene at Arthingworth Street, E15.

Seriously injured on 21 October 1995, while responding on an emergency call to a road accident in Huyton, when his police vehicle went out of control and hit a garden wall. As a result of his injuries he remained in a coma until his death two years later.
