Ranks:- A - Acting, ACC - Assistant Ch/C, C - Constable, Ch - Chief, D - Detective, Expo - Explosives Officer (civilian staff), Insp - Inspector, P - Police, PWR = Police War Reserve, R - Reserve, S - Special, Sgt - Sergeant, St - Station, Supt - Superintendent, T - Temporary, W - Woman.		This list includes deaths where there was a charge or inquest verdict of murder or manslaughter (culpable homicide in Scotland), or of causing death by dangerous or reckless driving, drunk driving or vehicle manslaughter where an officer is attempting to stop the vehicle or is deliberately struck by the vehicle. In some cases suspects were acquitted or not proceeded against due to insufficient evidence to substantiate the homicide offence. It does not include deaths that occurred over a year after an injury was inflicted. The list is believed to be incomplete and several more historic cases are being investigated.

"Beaten" includes hitting, kicking, struggle etc., "Bludgeoned" includes use of any blunt instrument, "Stabbed" includes use of any sharp instrument, "Vehicle" includes any deliberate criminal use of a vehicle, "D/Driving" includes dangerous/reckless/drunk driving.
