About us...

The Police Roll of Honour Trust

The Trust is unique in being the only charity which aims to name and honour every police officer killed in the line of duty. We are working with other charities and organisations for:

We are a Registered Charity

The Trust is registered with the Charity Commission and has the following charitable objects:

Creating the National Police Officers Roll of Honour...
a record of public service and sacrifice.

For the first time ever, the Roll of Honour will pay tribute to some 4,000 United Kingdom police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty since the earliest days of professional law enforcement. We will ensure future losses are also recorded. The Roll includes officers killed by accident or enemy action as well as by criminal acts. It commemorates their sacrifice in the public service and provides a focal point and visible means for family and friends to reflect on the loss of their loved ones and to know that their loss is not forgotten. It will also provide an authoritative archive of the subject for study or analysis purposes. Increased knowledge and understanding of how fatalities occur will help promote officer safety.

National Police Memorial Day

This will be an annual UK wide event marked by multi-faith church services and other memorial events beginning with a service at St Pauls Cathedral in October 2004. These will be attended by police officers and the families of those killed, with representatives from the Royal Family, Government and the wider police service, taking part.

The Trust is represented on the Steering Group planning the National Police Memorial Day, which is chaired by the Police Federation and incorporates all UK police staff associations, support organisations and charities.

The National Police Memorial

We are committed to the publication of a book of remembrance containing citations of all line of duty deaths and the inscription in stone of all names at a national memorial. To this end we are working closely with Michael Winner, Chairman of The Police Memorial Trust, which in 2005 erected a National Police Memorial monument at the junction of The Mall and Horse Guards in Westminster, London, and with the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire for the national police memorial arboretum, 'The Beat'.

The Police Memorial Trust has erected
memorials to more than 30 officers killed
in the line of duty and a
National Police Memorial
is being dedicated in 2005

How we can help you...

Lest we forget

2nd December 1956, aged 36, leaving his wife and 5 young children.

Police Family Support

We are particularly pleased to hear from relatives, friends or descendants of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty; whether they wish know more about how their loved ones will be remembered, or about the support we can offer to bereaved police families and friends, or simply to seek advice.

Through our trustees and associated charities, we have personal contact with many bereaved relatives and with their help we are able to provide access to care and support for families and friends of deceased officers. No matter how recent or long ago your loss, we may be able to help; not least by putting you in touch with someone who has experienced a similar loss and understands how it feels. Our aim is to remember those who have died and those left behind.

Please feel free to contact us at any time for any reason.
