Lillian
Sullivan WPC Sullivan was killed together with four colleagues, PC Bulleyment, WPS Burton, PC Renshaw, and PC Ross, in a road traffic accident when the coach, taking them to the Police Federation Conference at Blackpool, suffered brake failure, crashed into a roundabout and overturned near Wakefield. The coach was found to have defective brakes, the coach owners were fined for failing to maintain the brakes and the driver received an absolute discharge. Lillian joined the police force in 1969 and worked in the Prosecution Department at Halifax, she had been commended twice for good police work. She was survived by her husband, a serving police officer. This was the highest loss of life to police officers
in a single road accident. Police Roll of Honour Trust © Registered Charity No. 1081637 |
