Lest We Forget William Forbes Police Constable Inverness Burgh Police Died 24 February 1876, aged 36
While patrolling his beat at Ness Walk, Inverness in the early hours, part of the unprotected river bank gave way and he fell into the River Ness and drowned.

Police Constable Elginshire Constabulary Died 19 July 1878, aged 39
Died from a stomach wound inflicted on 17 July, when he was stabbed while forcing entry to a hotel room in an attempt to arrest a deranged alcoholic, who had smashed up his room at the Grant Arms at Grantown.
An inscribed memorial stone was erected on his grave in Abernethy Churchyard at Nethybridge.

Police Constable Inverness-shire Constabulary Died 20 December 1898, aged 46
After laying in wait for seven hours at a house in Tulloch near Nethybridge, in order to execute a warrant on a poacher, when the suspect returned he entered the house to arrest him and was fatally wounded by a shotgun blast.
An Inscribed memorial stone was erected on his grave in Abernethy Churchyard at Nethybridge and later a plaque at police HQ at Inverness.
John Henderson Brown
Police Constable Inverness-shire Constabulary Died 30 July 1938, aged 21
Died from shock and multiple leg injuries sustained the previous day, while dealing at the scene of a road traffic accident on the outskirts of Inverness, when he was struck by a passing motor car.
A memorial plaque is sited at Northern Constabulary Headquarters at Inverness.

Special Constable Inverness Burgh Police Died 15 April 1944, aged 47
During a large disturbance by soldiers in Inverness, although off duty, he assisted regular police in the arrest of two disorderly persons but soon after taking one to the station he collapsed and died from a heart attack.

Police Constable aged 21 Died 3 November 1968, Both officers were members of their Force Sub-Aqua Unit; they were searching the Caledonian Canal at Corpach, for a missing youth, when they became trapped in a sluice they were examining at the bottom of a fifteen feet deep lock gate and both were drowned.
Inscribed memorial stones were erected over both officers' graves at Tomnahurich Cemetery and a commemorative plaque was sited at Northern Constabulary HQ at Inverness.
