Killed together with PC Mickleburgh, and PS Scott who died later, when the police driving school car, which he was driving, was in collision with a heavy goods lorry on the A52 Leek to Ashbourne Road, near Swinscoe.

Geoffrey was appointed to the force in 1970 and was attached to the HQ Traffic Department based at Buxton.

He was a single man.
