Died 19 June 1929, aged 31

 

Knocked down and killed by a motor lorry when he was talking to the driver of a bus he had stopped, while on foot patrol at night, at Hockcliffe cross-roads near Leighton Buzzard.

 


 

Sydney K. Dunkley

 

Special Constable

Bedfordshire Constabulary

Died September 1939, aged 45

 

While on duty standing in front of his stationary car on the main Bedford to Luton road, another car crashed into the back of it in the darkness, his car was overturned and he was thrown 20 yards into a ditch and fatally injured.

 


 

Alfred Donald Warton

Bedfordshire Constabulary

Died April 1948, aged 35

 

Died at Bedford as a result of injuries received in a road accident when the police patrol car he was driving crashed and overturned.

 


 

Robert Housden

Bedfordshire Constabulary

Died 8 December 1954, aged 22

 

Killed on traffic duty when a motor car collided with him while he was warning traffic of the danger of flood water following torrential rain and thunderstorms during the night at Bedford.

 


 

Geoffrey Ivor Ball

Died 16 February 1983, aged 29

 

Died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained on 10 February when his police motorcycle was in collision with an articulated lorry at Astwick.

 


 

Ronald Hunter

Died 30 December 1985, aged 52

 

 Collapsed and died from heart failure while on duty at Biggleswade Police Station.

 


 

Robert Charles Pearman

Bedfordshire Police

Died 11 December 1995, aged 42

Collapsed and died of an aneurism whilst dealing with the scene of a road traffic accident at Luton.


 

John Stephen Simmons

 

Police Constable

Bedfordshire Police

Died 5 August 2006, aged 27

Killed in a road accident while travelling home from duty after policing a football match at Luton when his motorcycle crashed at Houghton Conquest.


 

Jonathan Charles Henry

 

Police Constable

Bedfordshire Police

Died 11 June 2007, aged 36

 

The officer and others attended a report of a member of the public being stabbed in the street in the early morning at Luton and in attempting to arrest the knifeman he was stabbed and fatally wounded.
